WORKING VISIT BY PRESIDENT THARMAN SHANMUGARATNAM TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

22 TO 25 OCTOBER 2024

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam will make a working visit to Washington, D.C., United States of America from 22 to 25 October 2024.

2        President Tharman’s visit will include co-chairing the inaugural meeting of the World Bank Group’s High-Level Advisory Council on Jobs, and participating in a fireside chat with co-chair Michelle Bachelet and World Bank Group President Ajay Banga. He will also be engaged in a high-level event convened by the World Bank and the Global Commission on the Economics of Water, which he co-chairs, on the global water challenge.

3        During the trip, President Tharman will meet with senior leaders from international organisations, business, and think tanks. He will also meet a group of Singaporeans based in the US.

4        He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the President’s Office.

5        During President Tharman’s absence, Mr Eddie Teo, Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers will exercise the functions of the office of President.
