CHANGE OF PRIME MINISTER

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has, on 13 May 2024, informed the President that he and his government intend to resign on 15 May 2024. Prime Minister Lee has also advised the President that Mr Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister, commands the confidence of the majority of Members of Parliament and that he be appointed as the next Prime Minister.

The President agreed with Prime Minister Lee’s advice and has invited Mr Lawrence Wong to form the next government. Mr Lawrence Wong has accepted, and has submitted a list of the proposed members of his government to the President.

Mr Lawrence Wong will be appointed as Prime Minister, receive his instrument of appointment and take his Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Due Execution of Office on 15 May 2024 at the Istana.
